What is ILLiad document delivery?
ILLiad is the name of the electronic system recently implemented to process and track your document delivery and interlibrary loan requests. ILLiad is commonly used by academic libraries across the country.
How is ILLiad different from the previous system used by the Prior Health Sciences Library?
You should find it easier to submit your document delivery requests. With Prior Health Sciences Library Document Delivery Services via ILLiad, you register your personal information in the system only once, at the time of your first request. After you have a user name/password set up for using ILLiad, the system will recognize you when you return for additional requests. ILLiad allows you to track your requests and update your personal and account information at any time from any location. Library personnel are able to handle your requests more efficiently and accurately with ILLiad.
What if I forget my password?
Please contact the Document Delivery Department at (614) 292-4894 or email us at hslill@osu.edu. We can reset your password allowing you to access the system. Please change your password once you have successfully logged back into ILLiad.
Who can use Prior Health Sciences Document Delivery Services?
All OSU faculty, staff, and students are welcome to use our services. Our primary customers represent the various health sciences colleges and the OSU Medical Center. Additionally, we offer a document delivery service to non-OSU customers. All customers are charged a fee for service.
What does document delivery cost OSU faculty, staff, and students?
Fees apply to all requests. We encourage you to search the OSU online catalog and the OhioLINK catalog before submitting your document delivery requests to us. You may be able to download articles on your own from our electronic journal collection or freely request books from other OSU or OhioLINK libraries.
| Regular Requests | Usually provided within 1 week | $8 per request |
| Rush Requests | Usually provided within 2-4 days | $13 per request |
Copyright royalty fees for photocopies are set by the publishers and most are paid by the Document Delivery department. Approximately 30 journal titles have copyright royalty fees of $20 or more per article. If you request an article from one of those journals, you will be charged the additional fee. You will be notified by Document Delivery staff and, if you choose to proceed with the request, you will be charged for the copyright royalty expense and the regular document delivery request fee.
What are the costs for Courtesy Card holders and other non-OSU clients?
| Regular Non-OSU Service | Usually provided within 5 days | $25 per request |
| Rush Non-OSU Service | Usually provided within 48 hours | $40 per request |
NOTE: Charges apply upon submission of your request.
Why is there a charge for document delivery?
The cost of providing document delivery services continues to rise. At the same time, University support of library budgets is stagnant.
The average cost of providing a single article via document delivery is $17. The document delivery fees offset some of that expense and help support the Library's journal and book collections.
Is there any other way to get the materials I need?
You may go to a commercial document delivery supplier; however, most charge anywhere from $15 to $45 per request.
What about the University Libraries Interlibrary Service?
With the exception of Veterinary Medicine and Pharmacy, the University Libraries do not serve health sciences faculty, staff, and students. University Libraries and OARDC use their own versions of ILLiad. Faculty, staff, and students from health sciences should use the Prior Library Document Delivery ILLiad service exclusively.
Can my assistant or student staff members order items for me?
Yes. You should register and set up your billing account information. You can then share your username/password with them. As only one username/password is allowed per person, please make sure these persons do not try to register you a second time.
What payment options do I have?
OSU customers may choose to be invoiced or use interdepartmental billing (100W). If you are faculty or staff, contact your fiscal officer for information on entering appropriate 100W codes before submitting your online request form. Customers not affiliated with OSU will be invoiced.
What are my delivery options?
All articles will be delivered electronically to your desktop. This allows you to access the document from any Web browser. All original materials, such as books, must be picked up at the Health Sciences Library ASK Desk (for OSU customers) or delivered to you via UPS/FedEx (for non-OSU customers).
Does ILLiad work with Loansome Doc in PubMed?
